An ultrasonic observation device according to the present invention comprises: a frequency analysis unit that analyzes the frequency of an ultrasonic signal and thereby calculates a plurality of frequency spectra which are in accordance with the reception depth and reception direction of the ultrasonic signal; a characteristic amount calculation unit that calculates the characteristic amount of each of the frequency spectra; an attenuation factor setting unit that sets an attenuation factor for a region for calculation, which is a region different from a region of interest in an ultrasonic image and used for calculation for correcting the characteristic amount; and a characteristic amount correction unit that performs attenuation correction of the characteristic amount using the attenuation factor set by the attenuation factor setting unit and thereby calculates a corrected characteristic amount of a sampling point in the region of interest in the ultrasonic image. |
