PURPOSE:To eliminate play produced by mesh of a rack with a pinion by dividing the rack logitudinally into a plurality of slidable parts so that the parts mesh with the pinion under the condition of spanning the pinion. CONSTITUTION:A rack 1 is divided along the longitudinal axis into two parts 2, 3 which are fixedly slidably to predetermined mounting positions through slots 4 and set screws 5 under the reunified condition. Both parts 2, 3 are adapted to mesh with a pinion 6 spanned by them. By sliding one part 2 and adjusting a discrepancy amount between both parts 2, 3 can move smoothly the pinion 6 under the condition that one slant surface of tooth 2' of one part 2 and one slant surface of valley of the pinion 6 and the other slant surface of tooth 3' of the other part 3 and the other slant surface of valley of the pinion 6 respectively always simultaneously contact each other. |
