PURPOSE:To convert a character signal of character multiplex television broadcast to a sound signal and to listen to the character signal with sound, by providing a character-sound converting section converting a digitized character signal into a sound signal to a decoder restoring the digitized character signal superimposed on a vertical blanking period of a television broadcast signal into a video signal. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal synchronizing signal and a chrominance subcarrier signal synchronized with a color burst are obtained from a video signal of a receiving section 1 at a synchronizing separation/chrominance subcarrier generating section 16. Further, a character signal separating section 12 is switched with the horizontal synchronizing signal, the character signal is separated from the video signal and stored temporarily in a buffer memory at a signal processing section 13. on the other hand, a CPU22 reads a data from a pattern memory 14 with a data given from a keyboard 8, collates the data of the pattern memory 14 and the data of the 2nd ROM24 according to the procedure of the 1st ROM23 so as to discriminate the character and graph, and the character data is stored in an RAM25. Further, after display of one screen, the data of the RAM25 is given to a voice synthesis section 27, where the data is converted into the voice signal and outputted from a voice amplifier 3 via a voice switching section 11. |
