PURPOSE:To perform distance measuring regardless of properties of an object to be measured in a contactless manner by an apparatus wherein an image of the object is focused on a space filter through an optical lens, and the resultant output is arithmetically processed by an arithmetic unit. CONSTITUTION:A light emitted from an object 4 is focused on a space filter 1 comprising photo receiving elements, e.g., solar cells, arranged properly. The resultant output is applied to an arithmetic unit 6 through an amplifier 2, where arithmetic operation is made based on the following equation: a=bv/fp, where (f) is output frequency of the space filter, (a) is a distance from the lens system 3 to the object 4, (v) is a relative lateral speed of the object 4, and (p) is a spacing between elements of the filter 1. By so doing, it becomes possible to measure the distance (a) regardless of properties of the object to be measured in a contactless manner. |
