PURPOSE:To facilitate the positioning for reading of a bankbook and to improve the reading accuracy for a reading device using an optical sensor, by comparing the read data given from a reading part with a prescribed pattern data when a medium is inserted. CONSTITUTION:A stripe pattern which is drawn orthogonally to the traveling direction of an optical sensor 3 is applied on the suface of a press roll 2. This pattern is read by the sensor 3 when no bankbook is inserted and stored in a memory 6, and a stripe pattern signal P is stored. Therefore the coincidence is always obtained between a read signal A1 and the signal P. When a bankbook B reaches under the sensor 3, the insertion of the book B is detected since a detecting signal A2 is different from the pattern signal extracted from the memory 6. Then the shift amount is decided to the next print 4 by the detection of the book B. |
