PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of segregation by providing two sets of walking bars which hold a billet therebetween from above and below, and guide the billet near the part where the solidification of the billet ends so that the walking bars which have released the billet upon completion of the walking are fed backward to the position where the billet is held. CONSTITUTION:A billet S is tracked and driven by pinch rolls 23 and is held therebetween by, for example, outside walking bars 4. The upper and lower walking bars 4 walk in an arrow direction while holding the billet S, and when the billet arrives at the prescribed position in the region where the oscillation of a support shaft 9 for an eccentric shaft is permissible, the holding of the billet S which has been attained by the eccentricity of the shaft 8 is released by the succeeding rotation of the shaft 8. Inside walking bars 5 hold the billet S and guide and convey the same during this time. The bars 5 are moved in the opposite direction by the operation of a cylinder 14 for returning the inside bars and are returned to the position where the billet S has been held before the billet S is held by the same. |
