PURPOSE:To display the orthogonal components on an oscilloscope, by combining and connecting five optical directional couplers formed by optical fiber, and determining the orthogonal components of the output light of a device to be measured. CONSTITUTION:Light from a light source P is split by an optical coupler DC1 formed by optical fiber, inputted to a similar optical coupler DC2, and also inputted to a device to be measured MS through a delay line DL1. The other split light is inputted to a similar optical coupler DC3 through a similar optical coupler DC5 and a delay line DL2. The light beam, which is split by the coupler 3, and the output of the device MS are inputted to a coupler DC5 through a similar optical coupler DC 4. By the combination and connection of the couplers DC1-DC5, converted signals corresponding to the sine component and the cosine component of the absolute value of the amplitude of the output light beam from the device MS are outputted from photoelectric transducer elements D1 and D2 corresponding to the couplers DC3 and DC5. The orthogonal two components of the output light is determined and applied to an oscilloscope SCP, and the amplitude and phase of the light can be directly observed at a high speed by the utilization of the optical fiber. |
