GLASS FIBER FOR LIGHT TRANSMISSION AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain a coated optical fiber good in strippability by interposing a specified polysiloxane molecular layer in an interface between a resin compsn. layer coating the glass fiber and a hardenable organopolysiloxane compsn. layer above said layer. CONSTITUTION:A glass fiber material after drawing is coated with <=5mum thick resin compsn. of epoxy or urethane resin, and further spray coated with polysiloxane blocked with methyl or ethyl groups at its terminal. Moreover, it is coated with a hardenable organopolysiloxane compsn. blocked with vinyl groups at the terminal. Since the nonreactive polysiloxane is present between the thin film and the silicone resin, strippability from each other is improved.
