In a power source for wire-cut electric discharge machines, the comparator (COMP1) compares the source voltage (Vs) with a reference voltage (V) to detect the rising of the source voltage to a predetermined level. A switching element (Q2) is connected with a power source terminal (T1) by a resistor (R4) in series, and is controlled by the detected output of the said comparator (COMPI).
