The missile detonator comprises a switch closed via an operating element, a detonation mechanism incorporating a hammer and a rotor shaft allowing the detonation charge to be moved from a safe position into a live position. The spring housing shaft carries a rotary control disc fitting between the contacts of a trigger switch, with the spring housing coupled on one side to a winding up wheel and on the other to the hammer. The stored rotational energy is supplied to the rotor shaft via a transfer wheel coaxial to the spring housing shaft, upon the spring contacts of the trigger switch contacting one another. Pref. the spring housing has a partial cog around its outside engaging a cog wheel of the hammer, with the stored rotational energy transferred to the rotor shaft when the two become disengaged.
