PURPOSE:To form easily both ends of a supporting pipe to the shape coinciding exactly with the outside circumferential shape of a pipe frame to be joined in a short time by crushing and working both ends of the supporting pipe by means of dies having the outside circumferential shape of the pipe frame to be joined. CONSTITUTION:A supporting pipe 3 is placed on a holder block 4 on a stationary plate 2 and a movable plate 3 of a press machine is lowered. Dies 8, 9 fixed to a die holding block 7 in the lower part of the movable plate and a clamp block 10 descend and the block 10 press the pipe 3 to clamp the pipe and thereafter the dies 8, 9 on both sides press both ends of the pipe 3, thereby crushing and forming the two ends to a prescribed shape. The two ends of the pipe 3 are formed to the obliquely recessed shape having the curved surface coin ciding with the outside circumferential shape of a pipe frame 13 by the obliquely and circumferentially curved parts 8a, 9a at the top ends of the dies 8, 9. The pipe 3 is spanned diagonally between the angle parts of the T-shaped pipe frame 13 and the joining parts are welded. |
