PURPOSE:To obtain a hermetic vessel having high quality by superposing two sheets of steel plates which have a recess in at least one thereof and are flanged in the outside marginal part, and joining the flange parts by seam welding while feeding compressed air to the inside to discharge fine metallic particles formed during welding to the outside together with the compressed air ejected therefrom. CONSTITUTION:This hermetic vessel 1 is not limited to a fuel tank of an automobile and is applicable to other tanks as well. The method is not limited to the hermetic vessel 1 consisting of both tanks 2, 3 formed with recesses 2A, 3A and is also applicable to the case in which two sheets of steel plates materials formed with a recess to one thereof and formed to a flat wall surface on the other are superposed and the flange parts formed in the outside marginal part are joined by seam welding. A feed pipe for compressed air is not limited to a hole for inserting a fuel gauge and since seam welding is accomplished while the compressed air is fed into the vessel 1 through the opening provided thereto, the fine metallic particles generated in the form of fume are discharged to the outside and the sticking of the fine metallic particles of the inside wall surface is prevented. |
