To exploit and win coal from very deep-level seams, the coal is worked from at least one borehole by blasting, cutting or shearing. The released coal lumps are conveyed to the surface by means of a liquid flowing through the borehole, and the liquid, after separation from the coal, is returned into the working cavern through a pipeline arranged in the borehole and through an adjoining hose line. In the process, the hose line is set in pulsatory motion from a certain flow velocity in order to produce turbulent intermixing between the liquid filling the cavern and the coal lumps suspended in it.
