<p>PURPOSE:To perform the tracking control stably and surely by using plural pilot signals, which are in state having two track chares deviation, to correct the tracking control error due to the use of two magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:In case that pilot signals f1-f4 are recorded on respective tracks of a tape 1 successively, pilot signals f3, f4, f1, and f2 which are in state having two track chares deviation with respect to generation timing are supplied successively from a pilot signal generating circuit 9' and are mixed with extracted pilot signals, which are obtained by reproducing respective tracks, in a mixer 11, and the level difference between a frequency difference fT1=¦f2+ or -f1¦ or fT1= ¦f3+ or -f4¦ and a frequency difference fT2=¦f3+ or -f2¦ or fT2=¦f4+f1¦ out of mixed out puts is taken out as a tracking control signal by a means 19. Levels of extracted pilot signals are controlled so that the level of a frequency difference ¦f3+ or -f1¦ or ¦f4+ or -f2¦ out of mixed outputs is constant, and levels of frequency differences fT1 and fT2 out of mixed outputs are corrected by frequency differences ¦f3+ or -f1¦ and ¦f4+ or -f2¦.</p> |
