The invention relates to a compression spring (15, 15') to improve the opening of a parachute (6), specifically a parachute for a pyrotechnical charge, preferably an illuminating charge (3), as soon as the illuminating charge and the parachute have been separated from its carrying ammunition unit in the form of a rocket, projectile or the like. The parachute (6) is folded-up inside a protecting cap (4) in the carrying ammunition unit. The compression spring, in its compressed condition is loosely inserted into the parachute (6) in its protecting cap and is retained in its compressed condition as long as the protecting cap encloses the parachute, but provides a positive separation force to open the parachute (6) as soon as it is free from its protecting cap (4) at the separation from the carrying ammunition unit. The compression spring (15, 15') is preferably a spring wire bent so that a number of legs (21, 22, 23) are formed which by means of its spring force are contacting the inner wall of the protecting cap via the intermediate parachute material. <IMAGE> |
