PURPOSE:To make an efficient use of a rhombic tip by forming a rake angle of right angle in the axial direction in such a way that a rhombic face serves as an outer peripheral flank and that an acute angle corner is related to cutting, so that a clearance angle is provided to the end face side of a throwaway tip. CONSTITUTION:Both of the upper and lower rhombic faces of a rhombic board type throwaway tip 4 have the same configuration and, in order to provide a clearance angle gamma to the throwaway tip 4, at the end face of a tool body, each element of the axial length A of the back 9 of cutting edge of a throwaway tip 4, a bit radius R0, a tip set angle beta, a tip rake angle alpha, and a tip tapered angle theta is set so as to satisfy the equations. Due to this construction, a rhombic face is made to serve as a flank, enabling a tip to stand heavy cutting. |
