PURPOSE:To enable to utilize propulsive force by wind always efficiently by fixing ailerons on both edges of a sail in relation to a mast set up on the body of a ship. CONSTITUTION:On both of the left and right edges of a sail 20, ailerons 9, 10 are fixed on the convex side of a sail surface 4 with a certain gap toward said sail surface. When the sail 20 receives wind from the direction of an arrow B, the surface of the aileron 9 on the front edge side with respect to the wind is approximately parallel with the direction of wind. Therefore, wind is introduced between the aileron 9 and the sail surface 4 , accelerated, and let off along the sail surface 4. Thereby the wind is prevented from breaking away from along the sail surface 4, and at the same time, pressure difference between the side of a mast 1 and the sail surface 4 is increased and lift is enlarged. Further, the surface of the aileron 10 on the rear edge side with respect to the wind is almost perpendicular to the direction, and great lift is generated. In case of wind of the contrary direction, the role of the aileron 9 and that of the aileron 10 are reversed. |
