PURPOSE:To make remarkably a display screen bright in comparison with a conventional device by displaying a chrominance component picture light corresponding to the three primary colors by means of three cathode ray tubes, irradiating the chrominance component picture light to the corresponding color light emitting part of a fluorescent film consitituting a screen via a hole provided to a light shield plate from different positions and emitting light to display the color picture. CONSTITUTION:When a picture corresponding to a red component in the three primary colors is displayed to a cathode ray tube 2, this picture is projected onto a screen 1 by an optical system 5 and only the red component picture light R through the hole 12 provided to the light shield plate 11 is irradiated to the fluorescent film 10R as shown in arrows R1, R2 and the fluorescent film 10R receives stimulation and emits strongly the red light. Similarly, the green component picture light G and the blue component picture light B fed from the cathode ray tubes 3, 4 are irradiated selectively to the corresponding fluorescent films 10G, 10B via the holes 12 provided to the light shield plate 11, the fluorescent films 10G, 10B are stimulated and the green and blue colors are light emitted strongly. The luminescence of the fluoresent films 10R, 10G and 10B light emitted in this way is scattered at a scattering layer 9 and irradiated to a viewer via a transparent base plate 8. |
