PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has a high output and a long still lifetime by coating the solution of a surfactant on the surface of a ferromagnetic thin film while heating a substrate after formation of said thin film to obtain a protecting film and then vapor depositing the surfactant to form the 2nd protecting film. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1 is driven along the circumferential side of a heating roll 3 after formation of a ferromagnetic thin film, and the surface of the substrate 1 is dipped in the solution 6 of a surfactant of stearic acid, etc. which is heated by a heater 5 stored in a tank 4. Thus the solution 6 is coated to form a protecting layer of the substrate 1. Then the substrate 1 is driven along the circumferential side of a roll 9 via a guide roll 7, and a surfactant 10 in an evaporation source 11 to obtain the 2nd protecting layer. Then the substrate 1 is taken up to a take-up roll 14. Thus a high output is secured together with a long still lifetime for a magnetic recording medium. |
