PURPOSE:To enhance detection efficiency by providing a base plate, element arrangement comprising a plurality of first photoelectric converting elements arranged on the base plate so as to leave certain gaps therebetween and second photoelectric converting elements arranged so as to be adjacent to the joint parts of the element arrangement. CONSTITUTION:A radiation detector has a base plate 30 and a plurality of photocells 32 (each having a width W1) are attached to the base plate 30. The photocells 32 are placed on the base plate 30 in an arranged state and mutually separated over a distance L2. Other than the photocells 32 (width W1), a pair of photocells 34 (width W2) are provided and each width W2 is set so as to be made smaller than the width W1. Each pair of the arranged photocells 34 are placed between the photocells 32 and each photocell 34 is separated from the adjacent one over the distance L2. By this mechanism, low noise detection arrangement can be formed and detection efficiency is enhanced.
