The lift of the wing profile is increased in a simple, effective way with the front, top leading edge of the wing lifted at its rear end, pivoted about the leading edge of the wing. Air is scooped into intake ducts and ducted through the hollow front edge to spill out of the raised flap and over the top of the wing. This increases the lift. Further advantage can be obtained by trailing flaps pivotted behind the wing edges at some spacing from them. Even more lift can be generated by auxiliary surfaces above the leading flap and trailing edge. |
