Vane cell pumps with variable cell chambers are especially favoured as pumps or motors for hydraulic operation. In order, however, to create a hydraulically or pneumatically driven motor or pump, in which high torques can be generated and transmitted even at low speeds of revolution and which, where necessary, are capable of serving directly as drive unit for conveyor belts etc., these are of centric construction and comprise two rotary elements pivoted in relation to one another, that is a spring element (1) and a groove element (3), which in end view are arranged concentrically with respect to one another. The groove element (3) at the same time comprises a plurality of partial circumferential grooves (5) arranged in a circumferential direction, separating elements in the form of separating springs (11, 11a) being arranged on the spring elements (1), by means of which the cell chambers formed by the partial circumferential grooves (5) can be separated into a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber. <IMAGE>
