This motor drive control device has a sensorless drive processor and a rotation-state determination unit, the motor drive control device outputting a drive signal to a three-phase-voltage inverter for supplying a drive current to a sensorless motor. In the motor drive control device, the sensorless drive processor carries out a sensorless drive process through closed-loop speed control on the basis of the voltage applied to a shunt resistor of an inverter. When the drive signal is not being outputted, the rotation-state determination unit determines the rotation state of the motor on the basis of the induced voltage of the motor. The sensorless drive processor initiates the sensorless drive process on the basis of the determination by the rotation-state determination unit. This makes it possible to output a suitable drive signal to the inverter in accordance with the rotation state of the motor. Therefore, it is possible to minimize any increase in the inverter voltage and any loss of synchronism, even when the motor has rotated due to external forces or the like prior to starting of the motor. |
