PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body stable against heat and light, superior in carrier generating ability, high in sensitivity, low in residual potential, and superior in durability by incorporating a specified tetrakisazo compd. in a photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate 1 consists of the laminate of a carrier generating layer 2 composed essentially of a tetrakiszao compd. represented by formula I and a carrier transfer layer 3 composed essentially of a carrier transfer material. An interlayer 5 may be interposed between the substrate 1 and the layer 4. In formula I , X1-X4 are each H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, or alkoxy; Y1, Y2 are each H or cyano; A is a group of formula II; Z is an atomic group necessary to form an aromatic carbon ring or aromatic hetero ring; Y is carbamoyl or sulfamoyl; R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl, amino, or the like; R2 is an aromatic carbon ring residue; and R3, R3' are each 1-4C alkyl, aralkyl, or an aromatic carbon ring residue. |
