PURPOSE:To stop the rotation of a hub itself prevent the occurrence of sag of a tape by forming a tooth-shaped or high friction engaging surface on both fitted surfaces of a hub supporting shaft and a hub bearing installed at the main surface of a cassette and composing so that the gearing or the high friction engaging may be executed when the hub is displaced to a specified quantity or above. CONSTITUTION:When the vibration and the shock are added to a tape cassette when it is not used, a hub 5 is shifted for the cassette half, the gearing is caused on tooth-shaped parts 7 and 8 and the rotation of a hub 5 can be prevented. Further, even when the tape is intentionally drawn from the opening part of the half, the effective operation is executed in the same manner. Namely, since the position of a hub 5 is displaced for the half by means of the tension of the tape which draws out the tape from the opening part and the rotation is stopped, the drawing-out of the tape can be also prevented. At the time of use, the center of a hub 5 coincides with the center of a hub rotation shaft 4 and the smooth rotation can be obtained by inserting the hub drive shaft.
