PURPOSE:The titled monofilaments, consisting of polyvinylidene fluoride based polymer and a stereoregular polymethyl methacrylate based polymer, having a high knot strength, and suitable for fishery material, e.g. fishing lines and fishing nets, etc. and further filter cloth or brushes, etc. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinylidene fluoride based monofilaments prepared by incorporating (A) a polyvinylidene fluoride based polymer, preferably having >=1.0 intrinsic viscosity at 30 deg.C in dimethylformamide (DMF) with (B) a stereoregular polymethyl methacrylate based polymer (isotactic or syndiotactic structure) preferably at 88-99wt% component (A) weight ratio, melt spinning the resultant mixture at 230-300 deg.C, cooling and solidifying the melt spun monofilaments, drawing the solidified monofilaments at 50-160 deg.C in the first stage, and drawing the monofilaments at 130-200 deg.C at 4-7 total drawn ratio in the second and ensuing stages.
