MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a low friction property and high resistance to wear and corrosion without decreasing an electromagnetic conversion characteristic by providing a protective film consisting of a specific polymer on the surface of a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A protective film of a polymer obtd. by the polymn. reaction of the cloven gaseous biradical of the cyclic dimer paracyclophane expressed by the general formula 1 is provided on the surface of the magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium provided with the magnetic layer consisting of a thin ferromagnetic metallic film on a base body. A and A' in the formula are the same or different nuclear substituents, x and y are respectively 1-4 integers. The magnetic recording medium provided with such polymer protective film has a low friction property without decreasing the electromagnetic conversion characteristic thereof, is highly resistant to corrosion and wear and has good durability and running stability.
