An apparatus and method for monitoring reduced fluid flow through a filter. A filter, more particularly a fluid flow filter or an air filter when contaminated can suffer from a reduced fluid flow, which will often deform to match the fluid flow or more particularly in the case of an air filter—the air flow.

1. An apparatus for monitoring reduced fluid flow through a filter comprising:
a housing; a rod positioned at least partially within the housing; and a membrane coupled to and extending between the housing and the rod, wherein the membrane is configured to move the rod from a first position to a second position when a force exerted on the membrane by a fluid exceeds a predetermined amount.
