PURPOSE:To enable images to be printed contiguously on a content basis while dividing a printing region into a plurality of blocks, by providing a means for setting a plurality of different margins in a recording scanning range. CONSTITUTION:A printig mechanism is provided with a spacing key 7, a back- spacing key 8, a carriage-returning key 9, a left margin key 10 and a right margin key 11. A memory 24 is provided with controlling pointers 41-46 (for left margin, right margin, auxiliary left margin, auxiliary right margin, setting the number of lines, and the number of grinting lines) at predetermined memory areas. A margin is set by moving a carriage 2 to a desired position by using the spacing key 7 or the back-spacing key 8 and depressing the left margin key 10 or the right margin key 11. Next, auxiliary margins are set, and the number of lines in a page is set. Then, inputted characters are sequentially printed according to a procedure. Accordingly, a plurality of margins can be set in a printig range, and characters can be easily printed contiguously on a content basis when the printing region is divided into a plurality of blocks. |
