PURPOSE:To prevent oxidation of anvil electrode face and improve quality of formed products by shielding contact part of an anvil and a material to be worked when heating the material by applying current by the anvil and clamp and forming by indenting. CONSTITUTION:A bar material 1 is brought into contact with the anvil 2, the middle is held by the clamp 3, current is applied to the bar 1 to heat it making the clamp 3 and anvil 2 electrodes. Then, the bar 1 is pushed in from below by a pushing up jig to form a formed product. At this time, the face of anvil electrode is surrounded by a shielding plate 5, and inert gas is introduced to the surrounded part through a tube 6 to fill the part. Air is excluded to prevent oxidation of the anvil electrode face that becomes high temperature. Thus, life of the anvil 2 is lengthened and efficiency of work is improved.
