CONNECTING STRUCTURE OF MAGNETIC HEAD SUPPORT ARM

PURPOSE:To attain miniaturization of a disc size and to decrease the disc interval by butting a magnetic head support spring to a rear face of a mounting base so to form a connected body and inserting and fixing the connected body of the support spring to a slot at the end of the magnetic head support arm. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 4 is fitted to the tip of the support spring 3, which is fitted to the mounting base 2. The two support springs 3 are connected back-to-back to the mounting base 2. The slot 8 having a depth of [thickness h2/2 of magnetic support arm 1'+ thickness (e) of mounting base 2] is formed to the tip so as to form a mounting face of the mounting base 2. The connected support springs are inserted to the slot 8 so that the butted face of the mounting base 2 is made coincident with the central value of the thickness f2 of the magnetic head support arm 1'. A high rigidity is provided in comparison with that of a conventional arm. Since the magnetic head support structure with thin profile and small size is attained, the height of disc stack is decreased.
