PURPOSE:To provide high contrast and satisfactory maximum density and to enable long-time handling in a daylight room by adding an org. desensitizer having a positive value as the sum of the anode and cathode potentials measured with a polarograph, 2-mercaptobenzoic acid, and an anionic surfactant. CONSTITUTION:To a negative type photographic emulsion contg. fine silver halide particles contg. >=80mol% silver chloride are added at least one kind of org. desensitizer having a positive value as the sum of the anode and cathode potentials measured with a polarograph, at least one kind of 2-mercaptobenzoic acid such as S-acetylthiosalicylic acid, and an anionic surfactant such as aliphatic monocarboxylate. The org. desensitizer includes pinacryptol yellow. The resulting photosensitive material is chiefly used in the field of printing, and it is exposed to light rich in ultraviolet rays emitted from a mercury lamp or the like. By the composition the photosensitive material can be stably handled under daylight for a long time whether it is exposed or not. |
