PURPOSE:To prepare a lipid component having high solubility in oily component and excellent oxidation stability and antiseptic preservability, by homogenizing the cerebral tissue of a mammal with an organic solvent miscible with water, filtering the mixture, and extracting the residue with an organic solvent, etc. having low polarity. CONSTITUTION:The cerebral tissue of a mammal is homogenized in the presence of an organic solvent miscible with water (e.g. methanol), and the component soluble in said organic solvent is extracted and removed. The residue is extracted with an organic solvent having low polarity (e.g. n-hexane) or its mixture with a lower alcohol (e.g. methanol), and the obtained extract is washed with water or a salt solution to obtain the objective lipid componet.
