PURPOSE:To obtain an error signal correcting circuit with low power consumption not using a multiplier circuit by extracting a difference signal after two lines of a picture signal is subject to logarithmic conversion, adding the difference signal and the picture signal for one line's share subject to the logarithmic conversion and applying exponential conversion to the sum signal. CONSTITUTION:A picture element signal extracted from a solid-state image pickup element 101 is divided into three routes; one signal is used as it is as a signal of the (n+1)H line, and the other two signals are inputted to a 1H delay line 305 and an LPF306. The signal via the LPF306 is applied with logarithmic conversion at a logarithmic conversion circuit 307, and then divided into a signal through the 1H delay line 308 and not through it, and a difference signal between the signal of the (n+1)H line and a signal of the nH line is formed by a subtractor 309. On the other hand, after an output of the 1H delay line 305 is subject to logarithmic conversion (301), the signal is added to the said difference signal by an adder 302. This added signal is applied with exponential conversion at an exponential conversion circuit 303 to generate a corrected signal 315 of the nH line.
