The invention relates to a combing machine (1) having a plurality of combing heads (K1-K8) arranged side by side, each of which comprises a nipper assembly (4) having a feed means (22), a combing cylinder (RK), a detaching element (14) and a web-forming device (ST). The web (V) formed at each individual combing head is combined by means of a device to form a sliver (F) and delivered onto a conveyor table (FT) running along the combing heads (K1-K8). The slivers (F) delivered from the combing heads lie adjacent each other on the conveyor table and are fed to a downstream drafting unit (S). At least one cover (A1-A8) pivotally mounted about a pivot axis (30) is provided above the nipper assemblies (4) and the web-forming device (15, ST) of the combing heads (K1-K8). In order to protect the slivers delivered from the combing heads on the transport path to a downstream drafting unit, yet to ensure good access to the combing points, according to the invention the pivotable cover at least consists of one covering hood (A1-A8), the free pivotable end of which projects beyond and overlaps the conveyor table (FT), viewed transversely to the longitudinal direction of the conveyor table. |
