PURPOSE:To perform judgment simply, when a carbide in a heat resisting metal material is judged by an optical microscope, by etching the heat resisting metal material by either of a mixed acid liquid or the alkali solution of potassium ferricyanide, then etching the material by the other. CONSTITUTION:A heat resisting metal material such as an Ni-group heat resisting material and an Fe-group heat resisting material is etched by either of corroding liquids, i.e., a mixed acid in which hydrochloric acid and nitric acid are contained at a ratio of 1:1 or the alkali solution of potassium ferricyanide. After the washing and drying by water, alcohol and the like, the material is observed by an optical microscope. Thereafter the etching is performed by the other corroding liquid. After the washing and drying, the material is observed by the optical microscope. In this method, composition analysis by an X-ray microanalyzer, observation by a scanning type electron microscope and the like are not required. Carbides such as Cr3C2, Mo6C and the like included in heat resisting metal materials can be judged simply. |
