PURPOSE:To prevent the fall in intake charging efficiency and the increase in compression work, by injecting alcohol fuel into a cylinder during the period from the intake stroke to the compression stroke so that the evaporation of the alcohol fuel precludes the rise in the temperature of air sucked into the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In a heat-insulated diesel engine, a cylinder liner 2, a cylinder head's inside surface 11 on a combustion chamber 1, the top 5 of a piston 4, are made of a ceramic material high in high-temperature strength and low in thermal conductivity. A main fuel injection valve 12 for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber 1 is provided. In addition, an auxiliary fuel injection valve 13 for injecting alcohol fuel such as methanol requiring relatively low heat for evaporation, into a cylinder 8, is provided. The alcohol fuel is injected into the cylinder 8 during the period from the intake stroke to the compression stroke so that the evaporation of the alcohol fuel precludes the rise in the temperature of air sucked into the cylinder 8. The purpose is thus attained. |
