PURPOSE:To regulate and to make uniform the gas flow velocity and the distribution of the flow velocity in the radial direction of the gas flow in a regenerator by regulating the opening degree of a regulating valve provided to a flue from the regenerator of the hot-blast stove, controlling the pressure conditions in the regenerator, and increasing appropriately the pressure. CONSTITUTION:With respect to the operation of a hot-blast stove, a butterfly valve 6 is provided in addition to a flue valve 5 to a waste gas system when heat is accumulated in a regenerator 2, and the flow of the waste gas discharged from the regenerator 2 is regulated while opening the valve 5 to the full. Accordingly, the pressure on the regenerator 2 side of the valve 6 is increased by about 10-30mm. H2O as compared with the pressure when the valve is fully opened. The opening degree of the valve 6, in this case, is about 35-75%. The opening degree is preferably regulated by providing a pressure detecting terminal between the valve 6 and the regenerator 2, and detecting the pressure at this part. The thermal efficiency of the hot-blast stove can be preferably increased by the regulation and uniformalization of the gas flow as mentioned above.
