PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a recorded image due to the use of a water-impermeable support and the lapse of long time by using a specified heterocyclic mercapto compd. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion layer of a silver halide photosensitive material or its adjacent layer formed on a water-impermeable support contains a compd. represented by the formula in which A is an atomic group capable of forming a hetero ring; B is an alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group substd. by at least one sulfo group; and M is H, NH4, or an alkali metal. As the water- impermeable support, a material such as a plastic film is enumerated, but it is apt to deteriorate a silver image more than a paper support. The use of the present compd. prevents it and causes little deterioration of sensitivity and no blackening of an image due to subsidiary exposure. |
