Embodiments of the present invention provide a packet processing method and apparatus. After receiving a packet, a first network device processes the packet, and determines a first delay in which the processed packet resides in an FIFO memory. The first delay is equal to a difference obtained by subtracting a second delay from a target delay, the second delay comprises a third delay, and the third delay comprises a time interval for processing the packet, that is, the time interval for processing the packet is considered in determining the first delay. In addition, the determination of the first delay enables a delay of the packet passing through the first network device to be equal to the target delay. Accordingly, the technical solution can enable a delay of a packet passing through a network device to be equal to a value. |
