PURPOSE:To produce electricity by neutralizing reaction of moved ions and existing ions by partitioning a container into an acid bath and a base bath with an ion selecting membrane which selectively permeates a specified ion, and arranging an electrode in each bath. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 is partitioned into an acid bath 2 in which hydrochloric acid solution is filled and a base bath 3 in which sodium hydroxide solution is filled with an ion selecting membrane 4 such as beta-alumina membrane which selectively permeates only sodium ions. Graphite electrodes 5 and 6 are arranged in baths 2 and 3 respectively to form a power generating device. Sodium ions in the base bath 3 move to the acid bath 2 and reacts with chlorine ions in the acid bath, and potential difference produced between both baths is taken out as electromotive force. Therefore, a clean power-generating device by which no exhaust gas and noise are generated is obtained. |
