PURPOSE:To improve transmission efficiency ever so better, by connecting a stator output shaft to a turbine output shaft via a clutch, while installing a brake in the stator output shaft lying between a stator and the clutch. CONSTITUTION:A stator output shaft 41 is connected to a turbine output shaft 40 via a clutch 44, while a brake 49 is installed in the stator output shaft 41 lying between a stator 34 and the clutch 44. With this constitution, using a three-element torque converter 30 being simple in structure, high torque is securable at a low speed ratio range and, what is more, transmission efficiency ranging from the low speed ratio range to a high speed ratio range is improvable, thus improvements in a rate of fuel consumption are well promotable. |
