PURPOSE:To achieve a high definition color halftone recording at a low power consumption and at a high speed by employing a heat generating resistor whose resistance value increases sharply above a certain temperature while the distance between electrodes changes gradually across the width of the heat generating resistance. CONSTITUTION:Given information existing on a signal electrode 28a, when DC voltage is applied between both electrodes the distance between which is not constant, current flows concentratedly to the smallest parts of the distance between the electrodes to heat the parts 30a and 30b up to a high temperature to perform a print recording with dots of the area corresponding to the parts 30a and 30b. With the further application of the voltage, the resistance R reaches a certain temperature, for example, 250 deg.C and begain to increase the resistance value sharply until the resistance values of circuits 32 and 33 equal, so that the same amount of current flows through the circuits 32 and 33. The heat generating part grows to the portions 31a and 31b enabling a print recording with dots of the area corresponding to 31a and 31b. The continued application of voltage makes the resistor of a circuit 34 higher in the temperature thereby enabling the print recording with dots of the are corresponding to one entire resistor. |
