PURPOSE:To obtain a disk material which is not cracked even in case of a large truck or the like requiring large brakeage by using an alloy steel having specified C, Cr and Mo contents. CONSTITUTION:This disk material consists of 0.03-1% C, 1.2-20% Cr, 0.1-1% Mo and the balance Fe for further contains >=0.1% one or more among Ni, Ti, Cu, V, Nb, W and B. The material has >=25% reduction of area and >=150 hardness HB at ordinary temp. and such temper softening resistance that the hardness 500 deg.C is >=60% of the hardness at ordinary temp. When the material is used, a brake disk having superior resistance to thermal fatigue, thermal shock, softening, oxidation wear and cracking can be manufactured.
