PURPOSE:To simplify a detector by passing electric current in such a way that the potential difference between an object to be measured and a reference electrode in an electrolytic cell made of a metal to be acted as a counter electrode as well coincides with a set value and displaying the quantity of the hydrogen to be incorporated in said object according to the magnitude of the current. CONSTITUTION:The electrolyte 2 which is an alkali soln. of about 1N caustic soda is put into the electrolytic cell 1 consisting of platinum or the like which is not corroded by the electrolyte 2. The object 3 to be measured and the reference electrode 5 are inserted into said electrolyte. A power source part 6 is coupled to the object 3, the electrode 5 and the cell 1. If the potential difference between the object 3 and the electrode 5 is maintained at a specified value, the current proportional to the quantity of the hydrogen incorporated in the object 3 flows and therefore the quantity of the current thereof is measured and is converted to the quantity of hydrogen which is displayed on a display part. The uniform withdrawal of the hydrogen from the entire surface of the object to be measured and the exact measurement are thus made possible. |
