PURPOSE:To stabilize electrostatically charged potential and to enhance photosensitivity by constituting a photosensitive body of a laminate of a surface modifying layer made of an inorg. material, an a-Si type electrostatic charge generating layer, an a-SiC type charge transfer layer, and an a-SiC type electrostatic charge blocking layer, and installing a light cutting means in a prescribed long wavelength region to be used at the time of exposure. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive drum 9 is composed of the following 4 layers: (1) the a-SiC:H surface modifying layer 4, x being, preferably, 0.1-0.7 where its compsn. is expressed by a-Si1-xCx:H, (2) the a-Si:H charge generating layer 3 specified in film thickness to 4-8mum, (3) the a-SiC:H charge transfer layer 2, it is preferable to reduce a barrier against holes to be injected by impurity doping from the layer 3 and to control the content of the layer 2 to 5-30atomic%; (4) the a-SiC:H charge blocking layer 5 doped with a comparatively large amt. of element of group IIIa of the periodic table to form an energy gap difference between this layer 5 and the substate 1. At the time of exposure, energy intensity at 60nm wavelength is cut with a dichroic mirror 12 so as to reduce to <=50%, preferably, 2-30% to lower the long wavelength photosensitivity of the photosensitive drum 9. |
