NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I. USE:A silylation agent. Useful especially as a particular stereo-selective silylation agent exhibiting its power in the synthesis of steroid, prostaglandin, etc. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be prepared e.g. by (1) reacting methyltrichlorosilane of formula CH3SiCl3 with t-butyl lithium, and (2) reacting the synthesized t-butylmethyldichlorosilane of formula II with phenylmagnesium bromide of formula III in a solvent such as THF.
