PURPOSE:To sufficiently insulate heat and enhance the volumetric efficiency of an upright cylindrical tank which has a projection at the upper part thereof by fitting a skirt part under the cylindrical side-board of said tank and disposing heat insulators along the internal periphery and the external periphery of the skirt and between the tank bottom board and the hull construction. CONSTITUTION:An upright cylindrical tank 6 which has both insulators 11a covering the entire external face thereof and a projecting curved face at the upper part thereof is mounted on both tank bottom board heat insulators 12a and 12b which are disposed on the bottom part 5 of a boat. A cylindrical skirt 10 is provided under the cylindrical side-board 8 of the tank 6. The upper part of said skirt is joined with the tank and the lower part thereof is joined with the hull. Insulators 11b and 11c are supplied along the inner and the external periphery of the upper part of the cylindrical skirt 10 so that the temperature of the upper part of the skirt 10 is made approximately equal to that of the tank and the temperature of the lower part is made approximately equal to that of the ambient space. In comparison with the mounting method of a conventional spherical independent tank in a hull, heat insulation can be ensured sufficiently and the volumetric efficiency of the tank can be increased.
