PURPOSE:To improve the flatness of the voltage during discharge, repeatability of charge and discharge cycle, charge-discharge coulomb efficiency, and life of the battery in the charged state, by using poly-N-vinyl carbazole electrode as both positive and negative electrodes, or as the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:The battery comprises current collecting terminals 1, 9, current collecting bodies 2, 8, glass fiber filters 3, 6 having a rectangular hole in the middle, 110mg of fine powder 4, 7 of poly-N-vinyl carbazole filling the hole of the filter, and glass fiber diaphragm 5. Then, a current of 0.5mA is passed between the current collecting terminals 1, 9 for 60min to charge the accumulator. The terminal voltage shows a change from 3.2 to 3.4V. Just after charging, constant current of 0.1mA is discharged, and the terminal voltage was at first 3.3V, but decreased gradually and became 2.6V after 72min. After that, the terminal voltage dropps suddenly and when it attains 1.0V, the discharge is stopped. It took 100min from the beginning of the discharge till the end of it, and the coulomb efficiency during charging and discharging is calculated to be 33%. |
