PURPOSE:To prevent paper jam caused by faulty operation through printing and line feed after reading and confirming a gap condition between a printing head and a platen and a printing paper setting condition with a gap value detection means and a paper identification means. CONSTITUTION:A paper identification means 20 to identify the kind of paper 25, 27 and a setting condition, a gap value detection means 24 to detect a gap value between a printing head 11 and a platen 15 and an operating part composed of switches and indicator lamps are provided. When the results of the operation of the identification means 20 and the detection means 24 with printing paper are not satisfactory, the operating part is operated to report an operating fault. Thus it is possible to prevent a faulty line feed, paper jam, etc. which are attributable to the operator's failure to operate a paper switching lever 18, a gap adjusting lever 14, etc. |
